Barn Wedding Venue – Longford
Brickendon Estate, situated a few minutes from the thriving country town of Longford is a truly unique Tasmanian rustic wedding venue. At just under half and hour from Launceston, the feeling one gets when wandering through the entry to the once (but still titled) Farm Village of barns and sheds is one of old beauty yet a classic country style. Offering two main venue options for your rustic country wedding reception, The Sussex Barn and a marquee site, Brickendon provides an almost magical historical backdrop for a romantic country wedding celebration.
A quintessential barn wedding venue, the Sussex Barn was built in the 1830’s. With its timber structure and high ceilings it is the perfect setting for a rustic wedding reception. The space lends itself to various styles of classic beauty or country chic, and soft linens and flowers bring out the natural beauty highlighted in the surrounding gardens. The Barn faces out to the central grounds of the Farm Village which creates a delightful large space for pre-drinks and canapés prior to the wedding reception, allowing guests to take in the picturesque English countryside setting – including the occasional chicken or duck wandering by. It can also be sectioned off and closed for a reveal of the barn at a later stage.
The Barn can accommodate up to 140 seated guests, and basic trestle tables and chairs (outdoor style) are included in your venue hire. There are also a selection of smaller tables and accessories for use to create the space as you need. DIY styling is an option here but the Brickendon staff can also recommend trusted suppliers to style and theme the space for you – particularly for lighting. Enhancing and playing on the steep roofline creates a dramatic effect, and lighting the space this way adds to the magnificence of the barn, especially beyond dusk. You also have the option of utilising the small commercial kitchen to the side of the building, and a list of recommended caterers can be provided to you if you don’t already have one.
For those who prefer a marquee or tent wedding, there is space to accommodate one within the property. The location for this is as unique as the Barn, but is set amongst the stunning heritage English garden and surrounded by 180 year old trees, looking out over the land to the mountains in the distance. Hire of marquee or tent, as well as the full set up is at your discretion, meaning you can work with a blank canvas at this beautiful rustic wedding venue.
Leading into your wedding reception the Brickendon staff will liaise with you at each step to ensure that planning the wedding day is as simple as possible. Their love for this one of a kind romantic Tasmanian country wedding venue and it’s history is catching, so do not be surprised if you want to go back for your anniversary.
